Toyota has issued a “Do not drive” advisory for specific older vehicle models, affecting approximately 50,000 units. The advisory includes specific 2003-2004 Corollas, 2003-2004 Corolla Matrixes, and 2004-2005 RAV4 vehicles affected by the Takata airbag recalls.
Toyota has identified urgent safety concerns with these airbags, as their age increases the likelihood of explosive deployment, releasing sharp metal fragments that pose severe risks to the driver and passengers.
Owners are strongly advised to drive these vehicles only once the necessary safety recall repairs are completed. Toyota recommends contacting local dealers for free repair options, such as mobile repair, towing to the dealership, vehicle pickup and delivery, or alternative transportation arrangements.
Toyota will repair or replace the airbag for free, officals said.
